Goals & Initiatives

Our goal is to understand how disruption in neural circuits, as is common in acquired brain injury, leads to reorganization of the spared circuitry, what role this reorganization has in recovery, and if these circuits may be artificially manipulated to promote behavioral improvements. The findings based on this research will have far-reaching implications on our fundamental understanding of how the brain responds to injury and how recovery of function is manifested within spared areas, in order to  provide the framework for novel primary and adjunctive treatments to promote rehabilitation.
